The Canterbury Racing race meeting at Motukarara on Thursday 6 March 2014 has been abandoned because of the state of the track.
The decision was made following a track inspection by the Club and the
Racing Integrity Unit after the Canterbury region received very heavy
levels of rainfall over the last 24 hours. The inspection
revealed that the racing surface still has significant surface water in
places (particularly in the home straight) and the likelihood of it
dissipating in time for the meeting to proceed is extremely remote.
There is also the possibility of further rainfall in the region today.
As a result of the abandonment, and following consultation between NZTR
and the Southern Regional Programming Committee, an
additional/replacement opportunity has been programmed as follows:
